The Extended Stay Request is currently live on the eLiving site. Students should submit this form only if they need to stay in their current Spring 2015 housing assignment after the halls close at 12:00pm on Thursday, May 14th, 2015.

The deadline to apply for Extended Stay is 11:59pm Wednesday, May 6th, 2015. Requests received after 11:59pm Wednesday, May 6th, 2015 will be approved on a case by case basis.

Extended Stay is available in the spring semester only for:

  • Students participating in approved graduation activities - approval requires documentation.
  • Students with confirmed on-campus housing assignments for a Summer Session including A, B, or an S session ONLY (students only enrolled in a C session with not be granted an extended stay option) - automatically approved - students must still apply.
  • Students with confirmed on-campus housing assignments through summer Intern housing - automatically approved - students must still apply.
  • Approved Spring 2015 and Summer 2015 Housing staff - automatically approved - students must still apply.
  • Other - such as pre-confirmed international flights or pre-determined pick-up conflicts - approval requires *documentation.

*If your request reason requires documentation, please submit your third party documentation to your neighborhood desk no later than 12:00pm on Friday, May 8th, 2015.

Third party documentation may include:

Reason for Request Acceptable Documentation
International Flight Copy of flight itinerary
Pick-Up Conflict Parent/Guardian work schedule verification
Graduation Activities Confirmation letter, participation notice from campus organization, copy of on-campus work schedule

The Extended Stay Request is final once it has been submitted. All Extended Stay charges are NON-REFUNDABLE.

Dates, fees, and guidelines

  • All residents with approved extended stay must be moved-out and check-out of the halls by 6pm on Saturday, May 16, 2015- no exceptions (except for summer school/intern residents). 
  • Extended stay may incur a fee of $24.50 per night charged to the student account.
  • Please make your travel plans accordingly because the halls MUST be vacated by 6pm on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the absolute latest. Please follow all move-out instructions.
  • Summer school/intern housing residents will receive further instruction on the transition from their spring housing to their summer housing, and must be available and on-campus on Sunday, May 18. Summer school housing information is available at housing.gmu.edu/summer.
  • There is no extended stay available in the fall semester.

Note: Requests for extended stay will be available on Wednesday, April 15, 2015. You will be notified of your approval or denial by email. Emails will be sent out on April 29th and May 6th.
