Residence Life Staff

They'll Be There for You

Our Housing and Residence Life staff are on-site experts on all aspects of living at Mason.

Housing staff can be liaisons between you and faculty, and administrators, and can provide information about support services that are available on campus.

If you need help, ranging from the minor (providing directions to the dining hall) to the middling (the folks across the hall won't turn their music down while you're studying) to the major (stalking is no joke), they can help.

Here's who you turn to when the going gets tedious or tough:

  • Resident Advisors (RAs) These student staff members live in the halls and serve as the main contact for students living on campus. They coordinate activities and programs and help manage their areas.
  • Resident Directors (RDs) These full-time professional staff members live on campus, so they'll be there when you need them. They'll answer your questions, furnish information on helpful resources when you need a hand, and provide stability and guidance when someone is not being a good residence hall citizen (that's a nice way of saying behave yourself).
  • Desk Assistants (DAs) They work at one of our three 24-hour service desks, and can help you if you're locked out of your room and when you want to check out equipment (vacuums, etc.).
  • Neighborhood Assistants (NAs) They're on night duty, there to answer questions and offer assistance from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily.
