First Year Residence Halls

Freshman Year

Settle into Your First Year at Mason

Mason Housing is Your Second Home!

Feeling at home, and connected to the campus community is crucial to getting the full experience out of your freshman year. You'll find a variety of housing options in your first year at Mason. Pictures of our residence halls can be found on our Facebook page here.

Mason Housing residential halls are dynamic communities.  We promote student learning in positive environments, where each residence hall has its own unique features, and special community, promoting student success. Studies show that students living in residence halls perform better academically, and participate holistically in Mason campus life. Our first-year residential students have several options to choose from:

All our rooms are equipped with beds, desks, chairs, clothing storage, and window treatments. Some buildings are arranged in traditional room patterns, while others share a large bathroom. Some buildings feature suite-style arrangements of two rooms, connected by a  shared smaller bathroom.

Resident Assistants

All our Mason Housing residence halls have Resident Advisors (RAs) who are assigned to be helpful resources to a set of rooms. Residential students can depend on RAs to know everything students need, to make Mason Housing and Residence Life their second home. They're there to help you get acquainted with living on campus, answer questions, and provide support throughout the year while living on campus. Most RAs plan activities for their halls and buildings, and are part of Housing and Residence Life's mission, providing a safe and engaging student living environment.
