Hall Closings

Coming and Going

Most campus residences will close at 6 p.m. on December 20, 2016. We encourage you to take your valuables (passport, medications, jewelry, electronics, etc.) home.

If you'll be in the same room:

  • You don't need to remove your belongings, return your key, or check out at your neighborhood desk.
  • Review the closing checklist you'll get in November to ensure you complete all steps before leaving your room/suite for winter break.

Residents should plan to leave campus 24 hours after their last final, or by 6 p.m. on December 20, whichever comes first

Most of George Mason University closes during winter break, and students head for home. However, if you need to stay through the break, you do have options.

There is no extended stay available for the fall semester. However, if you need to stick around, we'll try to help you out.

  • Access eLiving to make a request to stay over break.
  • Speak with your resident director about a room change, if necessary. You can't stay in a closed building over break.
